In Japanese class, the students learned about "Learn about the world-class Japanese paper and traditional crafts." They created leaflets about traditional crafts in Kumamoto and Kyushu, and as an extension of their studies, they visited the Traditional Crafts Museum and Kumamoto Castle. By actually seeing and touching the crafts at the Traditional Crafts Museum, they were impressed by how important it was that their ancestors protected them and that they continue to cherish them today. Although they begged to see more, they headed to their next destination, Kumamoto Castle. At Kumamoto Castle, they carefully observed the castle, which has been restored five years after the Kumamoto earthquake, while sketching the castle.
