🌱 My Living Ecosystem | Grade 7 Science

Our Grade 7 students are bringing science to life through “My Living Ecosystem,” a hands-on project in our school garden. 🌿🔬

Students prepared the soil, planted different crops—including daikon, lettuce, and radishes—and are now observing with excitement as their plants germinate and grow.

Throughout the project, students are also completing a Science Journal, where they record their observations, document changes, collect evidence, reflect on their findings, and track the development of their living ecosystem over time. 📓🌱🔍

At the same time, they are strengthening essential MYP Approaches to Learning (ATL) Skills: Research Skills through observation and evidence collection; Thinking Skills by analyzing changes and making connections; Communication Skills by recording and explaining their findings; Social Skills through teamwork and shared responsibility; and Self-Management Skills by organizing their journal, monitoring progress, and caring consistently for their plants.

This project is about much more than growing vegetables. It is about growing curiosity, responsibility, collaboration, and scientific thinking. 🌎💚

The Dolphin Team observed the texture and features of different seashells, sand, fish teeth, and rocks from the ocean. It was such an amazing experience, seeing the students get excited holding a shark’s tooth!

Last Summer Camp, the Whale Team delved into the world of Science! The kids enjoyed looking through the microscope; they also created their own fan using simple materials and tried to fly water rockets!
