Grade 6 PYP Exhibition: A Journey of Inquiry and Action

The Grade 6 students of Kumamoto International School recently showcased their hard work and dedication in the annual Primary Years Programme (PYP) Exhibition. This event marks the culmination of months of inquiry, research, and collaboration, where students put into practice the skills they’ve developed throughout their studies.

The PYP Exhibition is more than just a presentation; it’s an opportunity for students to engage with real-world issues, reflect on their learning, and take meaningful action. This year, the theme of the exhibition revolved around three transdisciplinary topics: Sharing the Planet, How the World Works, and How We Organize Ourselves. Each theme encouraged students to explore critical global issues and ask big, impactful questions.

A Deep Dive into Global Challenges

The Grade 6 students were divided into six groups, each tasked with investigating one of the following areas:

  • Technology
  • Government
  • Life on Land
  • Gender Equality and Discrimination
  • Life Below Water
  • Renewable Energy

Through the inquiry process, students learned to think critically, collaborate with their peers, and engage in discussions that encouraged diverse viewpoints. They developed a deeper understanding of the issues that shape our world and were empowered to take action toward positive change.

The Exhibition Day: A Celebration of Knowledge and Support

The day of the exhibition itself was a true celebration of the students’ hard work. Parents, teachers, and students from other grades came to show their support, eagerly listening to presentations and asking insightful questions. The Grade 6 students presented their findings through creative displays, models, and interactive demonstrations. The event was an opportunity not just for students to share what they had learned, but also for them to engage in meaningful conversations with their peers and visitors.

Thank you to everyone who supported the students during this incredible journey, and a special congratulations to the Grade 6 class for their hard work, passion, and dedication!
