KISでは、実践的な学習がIB理科カリキュラムの重要な要素となっています。最近、10年生は化学平衡に影響を与える要因についての実験実習を行い、ルシャトリエの原理を実際の環境で応用しました。
生徒主導の実験
探究型学習の一環として、生徒たちは自ら方法を設計し、仮説に基づいた研究課題を検証しました。温度や濃度が平衡移動にどのように影響を与えるかを探求し、独自に変数を選定・制御しました。
高度な実験機器の活用
この実験では、新しく導入されたVernierセンサーを活用し、データ収集の精度を向上させました。これにより、温度や濃度の正確な測定が可能となり、平衡系が外部の変化にどのように反応するかをより深く理解することができました。
未来の科学者のための強固な基盤
本格的な科学研究に取り組むことで、生徒たちは批判的思考、データ分析、実験設計といった重要なスキルを習得しました。これらのスキルは、将来の化学、工学、医療科学の学習において不可欠なものです。
Grade 10 Chemistry: Exploring Chemical Equilibrium
At Kumamoto International School (KIS), hands-on learning is a key part of our IB science curriculum. Recently, our Grade 10 students conducted a lab practical on factors affecting chemical equilibrium, applying their knowledge of Le Chatelier’s Principle in a real-world setting.
Student-Led Experimentation
As part of their inquiry-based learning, students designed their own methodologies and tested their research questions based on their hypotheses. They explored how temperature and concentration influence equilibrium shifts, selecting and controlling their variables independently.
Utilizing Advanced Lab Equipment
This lab also gave students the opportunity to work with our new Vernier sensors, enhancing the accuracy of their data collection. These sensors allowed for precise temperature and concentration measurements, giving students deeper insights into how equilibrium systems respond to external changes.
A Strong Foundation for Future Scientists
By engaging in authentic scientific research, our Grade 10 students developed essential skills in critical thinking, data analysis, and experimental design—all crucial for future studies in chemistry, engineering, and medical sciences.
