熊本インターナショナルスクール（KIS）のPrimary Years Programme（PYP）の生徒3名—Chen Ming Weiさん、Chen Hung Yuさん、Lee You Jenさん—が、David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation主催の国際的なアートコンテスト「2025 Global Canvas Children’s Art Competition」にて、ファイナリストに選ばれました。
この3人は **「KIS PYP Students Group」**として、8〜11歳カテゴリーに参加。今年のテーマ「共生（Coexistence）」に基づき、人間と自然がどのように調和して共に生きられるかを表現した素晴らしい作品を制作しました。作品とあわせて、自分たちのメッセージや制作過程を説明するプレゼンテーション動画も提出し、世界中から集まった才能ある若きアーティストたちの中でファイナリストに選ばれました。
また、当時Grade 3（3年生）だったMini LoさんとDaniel Heさんも、同じ8〜11歳カテゴリーで個人エントリーとして参加しました。残念ながら今回は入賞には至りませんでしたが、若いながらも自ら挑戦したその姿勢と創造力は大いに称賛に値します。
今回の結果は、彼らの創造性、協調性、そして環境への意識の高さを示す素晴らしい成果です。本人たちも来年の参加に向けてすでに意欲を見せており、次回さらに成長した作品を見せてくれることが楽しみです。
さらに、KISアートクラブも12〜14歳カテゴリーに参加しました。入賞には至りませんでしたが、彼らの作品は努力と想像力、そして芸術への情熱に満ちており、その取り組みに心から敬意を表します。来年はさらにパワーアップした姿を見せてくれることでしょう。
このような体験を通じて、生徒たちの自己表現の力と、持続可能な未来を創る意識が大きく育まれたことは、私たちにとって何よりの喜びです。

At Kumamoto International School, we are incredibly proud to announce that three of our Primary Years Programme (PYP) students: Chen Ming Wei, Chen Ming Wei, and Lee You Jen were named finalists in the 2025 Global Canvas Children’s Art Competition, an international contest organized by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation.
Competing in the 8–11 age category as the KIS PYP Students Group, the trio created a compelling display based on this year’s theme: “Coexistence.” Their artwork beautifully illustrated the harmony that can exist between humans and the natural world. Alongside their display, the students submitted a video presentation explaining their message and creative process—an effort that earned them a finalist spot among talented young artists from around the globe.
In addition to the group entry, two Grade 3 students, Mini Lo and Daniel He, submitted individual entries in the same age category. While they did not place this year, we are extremely proud of their creativity and initiative in entering the competition independently at such a young age. Their participation shows great courage and passion for artistic expression.
These achievements are not only a testament to our students’ creativity, collaboration, and global awareness, but also to their passion for environmental stewardship and expressive storytelling through art. We look forward to seeing how they continue to grow as young changemakers—and we’re thrilled that many have already expressed their excitement to participate again next year, aiming to make an even greater impact.
We also extend our heartfelt congratulations to the KIS Art Club, who participated in the 12–14 age category. While they did not place this year, their display reflected impressive effort, imagination, and dedication. Their teamwork and artistic voice inspired us all, and we’re confident they will return even stronger in future competitions.
This experience underscores the value of student voice, artistic expression, and the powerful role young people play in shaping a more sustainable and compassionate world.
