熊本インターナショナルスクール（KIS）では、毎年恒例の生徒会選挙が行われ、1年生から10年生までの生徒が参加し、新しいリーダーを選出しました。今年の選挙は、いくつかの新しい変化をもたらし、生徒たちのリーダーシップへの熱意がさらに高まっていることを示すものでした。
選挙結果
今年の選挙では、プライマリー・イヤーズ・プログラム（PYP）から2名、ミドル・イヤーズ・プログラム（MYP）から1名のリーダーが選ばれました。これまでMYPからは4名の代表が選出されていましたが、今年は立候補した生徒が1名のみでした。それでも、選挙プロセスはこれまでと同様に活気にあふれ、候補者たちはより強く、包括的な学校コミュニティを築くためのビジョンを共有しました。
メンターシップと引き継ぎに焦点
月曜日から、新たに選出された2025-2026年度の生徒会メンバーは、現役の生徒会メンバーと共に活動を開始します。このメンターシップ期間は、指導を提供し、責任の円滑な引き継ぎを確保するために設けられています。学年末には、正式な引き継ぎ式が行われ、新しいリーダーたちへの役割の移行が象徴されます。このアプローチは、継続性、メンターシップ、協力を促進し、新しいリーダーたちが役割を果たすための準備を整えることを目的としています。
2025-2026年度に向けて
新たな生徒会は、次の学年の開始とともに正式にその役割を引き継ぎます。生徒会アドバイザーのモートン先生の指導の下、彼らは生徒たちを代表し、イベントを企画し、生徒の声に応えるために活動します。彼らのリーダーシップは、KISコミュニティに新しいアイデアとエネルギーをもたらすことでしょう。

KIS Student Council Election: A Celebration of Student Voice
The Kumamoto International School (KIS) community recently came together for the annual Student Council Election, a vibrant event that saw students from Grades 1 to 10 cast their votes to choose their new leaders. This year’s election brought some exciting changes and highlighted the growing enthusiasm for leadership among our students.
The Election Results
Students elected two leaders from the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and one leader from the Middle Years Programme (MYP). Traditionally, the MYP elects four representatives, but this year, only one candidate stepped forward to run. Despite the smaller number of candidates, the election process was as spirited as ever, with candidates sharing their visions for a stronger, more inclusive school community.
A Focus on Mentorship and Transition
Starting February 17,2025, the newly elected 2025-2026 Student Council will begin shadowing the current council members. This mentorship period is designed to provide guidance and ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities. At the end of the school year, a formal passing over ceremony will take place, symbolizing the transfer of leadership to the incoming council. This approach fosters continuity, mentorship, and collaboration, ensuring that the new leaders are well-prepared to take on their roles.
Looking Ahead to 2025-2026
The incoming Student Council will officially assume their duties at the start of the next school year. Under the guidance of Student Council Adviser Ms. Morton, they will work to represent their peers, organize events, and address student concerns. Their leadership promises to bring fresh ideas and energy to the KIS community.
